Our Method

Our calculator follows the standard Matriz del Destino calculation method as established by Natalia Ladini. We reduce your day, month, and year of birth to numbers from 1 to 22 and distribute them across the 12 positions of the octagram. The calculation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — no data is sent to any server. The full methodology is documented in our guides section.

Many Matriz del Destino calculators are black boxes: you enter your date, a result appears, and there's no way to know how it was reached. We prefer the opposite. This page explains, in as much detail as possible, exactly what our calculation engine does — the same one that runs in your browser when you use our calculator.

The model we follow

We implement the standard 22-arcana model developed by Natalia Ladini, deliberately aiming for parity with what you'd see in other recognised calculators of the method — not a variant of our own. Every position in your matrix always reduces to a value between 1 and 22, each corresponding to one of the major arcana of the tarot.

The reduction rule

The base operation of the entire system: if a number exceeds 22, we add its digits until reaching a value between 1 and 22 (for example, 27 → 2 + 7 = 9). This same rule is applied consistently at every step of the calculation, with no hidden exceptions.

How the positions are derived

We start from three base values — your day (Point A), your month (Point B, not reduced, since it already runs from 1 to 12), and the reduced sum of your year's digits (Point C). From there, each subsequent position is built by adding and reducing earlier positions: Point D is A + B + C; Point E — your comfort zone — is A + B + C + D; and so on through the rest of the position tree: the ancestral square, your masculine and feminine lines, your karmic tail, your money line, and your four purposes. What we don't do

We don't draw arcana at random, we don't apply manual adjustments "to make the result feel right," and we don't hide any formula behind a secret proprietary algorithm. The entire calculation happens in your own browser — we never send your date of birth to a server — and you can verify any result by repeating the process described above by hand.

Interpretation, not just arithmetic

The calculation is only half the work. Each position is then combined with the meaning of its corresponding arcana, following a position × arcana approach rather than showing isolated numbers — the same combinatorial logic we apply on each of our arcana pages.
